It is that time of year when people are planting the garden. While many people have room and tools to work the soil and yard space to commit to a garden, there are many people who do not. There is an option to planting a garden using straw or hay bales that allows for a compact garden with very few hand tools needed or much space to be taken up. The gardens can be used for vegetables, flowers or even trees. There are some steps necessary to prepare the bales for use but not very complicated. I have posted links to several sites to help you gather the information necessary. Good luck and happy gardening!

Anyone tried this? It is a great alternative conventional gardening.

Cool idea, but I'd skip hay and use straw.
