Well I'm finally gonna build one myself. I don't know why I haven't yet, but it's time. I'm gonna build a 7.62x39 frankenAR. Any tips or suggestions would be gladly accepted. I'm looking to keep it under 700 which should be pretty easy I think.

Man I hope you already have the parts. The market is crazy right now.

I don't. I looked around today some and everyone was in stock still. Psa was out of some lowers but other than that it wasn't bad.

If I were going to build a x39 Id build one of the ones that takes AK mags. I think they are cool looking.

I already have some asc ar mags for it so I'm gonna stick with them. They feed pretty awesome like.

That's a good deal for a stainless barrel and all the extras. You haven't shot 50000 rounds through it have you? I think I want it but I have to talk to my financial advisor. We are gonna be down that way Sunday and Monday. Wife has her citizenship test and interview. I will let you know.

If you don't buy @White 's upper, check out SOTA for the parts to build your own. I have one of their complete uppers and have built two others with their parts. A really good option and should keep you well under your $700 budget. My AR in x39 was built with their parts and it runs like a champ. At least it does until you camber and try to fire a round of 5.56...

I spent about 20 minutes browsing their site earlier. Its hard because so many companies make and sell parts now. I do want the stainless barrel and they have them for decent price. It's 175 with the extension and m4 feed ramp. That's the one I want so I'll either buy white's or buy from them and build it. I've never built one myself so I'm still not sure. I'd like to do it to say I have done it.

The feed ramp is one thing you'll want to pay attention to wherever you get your barrel from. I think most manufacturers have it dialed in now, but the traditional M4 feed ramps won't run reliably. They have to be opened up like this.

I can't get SOTA's website to load to look at their stuff, but the barrel I got from them was manufactured that way. I know many other people have had to open up their ramps to get them to work right.

Last one I had was from barrier defense. Thing ran like a champ. I'll take a look whichever way I go.

I love my AR (s) in x39. Currently got a sota upper and it runs great. Also have a hardened arms and it also has ran great. Good luck with the build and keep us posted.
