If you are up against another armed person and you don't have "one cookin" I would bet almost everything I own that you will lose that fight.

I used to carry without one in the chamber then as I am walking in the grocery store with my child in my left arm I realized I would be screwed if I were to have to draw my weapon, one in the pipe ever since then.
Yep, drop your kid or rack a round...

I would hope that in a defensive situation, round in chamber or not, you would have the sense to throw the kid as far away from you as possible. Getting shot is much worse than a broken arm because dad chucked you 5 feet to the right.

With that theory just use the child as a shield.

I carry one in the chamber. It seems pointless to carry if you don't have it ready to rock and roll to me

eh, I have an infant, throwing it may not be any better than it getting shot.

My general game plan now is to put me between the baby and the attacker and if its safe then just throw lead at him till i can get the baby to saftey.

now if he were older than id toss him as far as i could.

Yep one in the chamber. I was worried about it when I first started be over time I have realized it is actually more safe if you are careful

Always one in the pipe and an extra mag on standby. I've learned that with a round in the chamber, I'm far more careful, and it helps my awareness stay sharp.

bad guy "yeah man, I got time"

Me "ok, its chambered. you can go back to doing something wrong."

bad guy "ah! he has a chambered gun! I better run!"

....nope, doesn't work that way. One in the tube ready for the boom trigger to be fingered.

Always have one in the chamber. Just makes more sense to me, as that's the last thing I would want to worry about if something was to happen.

I have always carried with one in the chamber. The bedside guns are ready to go as well as the other stash arms around the house!
