Which combo do you run?

I run:

- SBR 9inch AAC barrel with Carbine Length and suppressor with T3 buffer
- Rifle 16 AAC barrel with rifle length and suppressor with H2 buffer
- Break Barrel 16 inch R5 barrel with suppressor.

Are you referring to your handguard lengths or actual gas system length? A 9" barrel with a midlength gas port location would have the port basically at the muzzle.

I actually don't currently have a 300blk upper. I have built quite a few for friends and family. When I want to shoot one, I borrow the 12.5" upper I built for my father. It was built on a Bergara barrel with pistol length gas. And it runs in all four possible modes: subs / supers / suppressed / unsuppressed. I've never had a factory sub load go super with or without the suppressor mounted.

I can see how it might happen with handloads. If you handloaded subs that were just below the super threshold, any change in MV could push one fast enough to crack. Whether it was because you dropped a couple more grains of powder or due to freebore boost of a suppressor. But that's a load that would already be pushing the envelope of velocity. Most factory subs are closer to 1000 fps, with enough cushion to stay subsonic even when suppressed. I mean, that is the point of 300blk, isn't it?

As far as gas system lengths, It's pistol length for anything under 14.5 and carbine for 14.5 - 16. Outside of those parameters and all bets are off for correct function.

I have a DRD Tactical CDR-15 with both 5.56 and .300Blk barrels. Both are 16" with carbine length gas system.

So far, all I've fired out of the .300 are 125grn NBT handloads, setup for a deer rifle for my daughter.

Ok I ran the Aero 300 BLK today. It's setup with a pistol gas configuration on a 16" barrel and a milspec carbine buffer. I shot AE 150gr and AE 220gr with and without a can on the subs. No issues at all. Big win. Thanks @dial1911 for the help today.
150gr avg 1849 fps 5 shots
220gr avg 1162 fps 5 shots
220gr avg 1180 fps w/can 5 shots

Sounded like the rds were still supersonic when shooting with the can. Or were those supersonic loads? Great build. I gotta put together 10.5" 300blk SBR when I have the time.

They stayed under 1200 but close to it. There's a crack off the pine trees you can hear.

That barrel is a Radical Firearms and the gas port hole is .106 I was told by them. It's usually ran with carbine buffer or JP capture with and without a can shooting subs or supers.

How's that Ozark ammo run have you tried it out yet
Negatory, haven't had a chance to get to the range with the 300, I need to find a fixed mount for my Octane, been too busy

I have a bunch of different 300 Subs to try, I just keep forgetting to order that stupid mount

I had the radical firearms 16" upper and ran either subs or supers with or without can with no issues. Of course, I did run the FA bolt.
