So, I am looking at some grips to give my 1911 a little flash. I am in awe at the plethora of offerings out there and kinda want a function and form set. I am not planning on this to be an EDC pistol at this time so I am not looking for operator grips.

@Jake, @NWS, @dial1911

Here are a few below and if you know of a good local company let me know. I am looking at maybe getting some custom grips made for my AMT Automag II.

Check out VZ grips. They are my favorite and go on all of my pistols that they make grips for.

If you want something that still looks good but is a little bit cheaper than the VZ's check out Lok Grips.

I think 1 of those pictures are VZ grips 2nd post with single pic) How well do the G10 grips hold up?

I want a classic aggressive look but not something everyone else has. I had the Hogue wrap around grip on my old 1911 but seemed a little chunky.

I kinda like the USA w/eagle grips although unless open carry will not be seen very much.

G10 holds up better than any other material out there.

What kind of 1911 are you planning to put them on?

Nothing special, just this junky old pistol you helped persuade me to pick up a while back!LOL

G10 is very tough material. Also cuts very cleanly for very nice checkering. Will outlast wood and basically anything else, aside from maybe aluminum grip panels. Although aluminum is pretty soft, even the good material (7075-T6, etc). 6061-T6 is cheap stuff, but relatively strong.

EDIT: And I also had some Hogue wrap arounds- they are chunky. And the "sticky" rubber material drags on any fabric it touches. Same thing I don't like about the overmolded grips and 10/22 stocks.

I told you those Springfield Loadeds were nice guns for the money. NM serial number prefix?
Absolutely. I just got the pin and link kit to install the match grade threaded barrel I picked up for it. Haven't been to the range yet although I am looking forward to it. I have a little ammo since I have the G21 but not a lot yet.

If it were mine, this is just the way I'd go.
Agreed. I have some blue G10 grips on my officer size. Slim is the way to go in my opinion. I have a thicker set also, but they stick out past my holster just enough to start rubbing my fat roll when I carry IWB, so I carry the slim. The deep cut scallop for your thumb to access the mag release is nice too.

If your G10 vrips are a little too aggressive for you, take some 2000 grit sandpaper and knock off the sharp points and wipe with damp cloth after. No one will even know you have softened them up.

Psh.... We’ll know... We’ll ALL know.....

Don’t worry, I’m soft too..... Lol

This looks like a nice set. If you want to spend some money and get a magwell to boot look up Techwear/ Techwell. The offer grips that have recesses in the bottom to accommodate a nice magwell. You can go as wild as you want, from a EDC magwell to all out racing gun magwell and one in between. Below is my Remington 6 inch long slide 10mm with a Techwell full magwell. It's looks racy and functions excellently. They have three different styles of magwell. Unfortunately they are limited on color choices but the have all the options. Standard, slim, ambi, thumb notch, beveled bottom and many other choices. Have a looksy.

I have thought about a mag well upgrade. Not going to be a comp gun, at least until I can find the time to play. I will probably have a couple of configs for it. I have a threaded barrel to install and Hope's I get it working.
