What should you be buying now?

We all have cars from our past that we should have bought when they were affordable. There are too many cars that I should have bought in the 90s - Datsun Z cars at $3k, IH Scouts for $1K when nobody wanted one, early 80s Toyota trucks before they all but disappeared.

So here is the question: What cars should we be buying today? Which cars will we be kicking ourselves for not picking up cheaply when we had the chance?

For me the list could get pretty long the more I think about it, but here's a few to start

- 1973-87 Square body Chevy trucks. I've wanted to build both a lowered C10 and K10 stepside truck for years. The prices are climbing on these.

C4 Vettes are a good price now, as are C5 ZO6's.

The C5 Z06 is one of the true bargains in the sports car category. The basic hardware is the same as a Chevy truck - a workhorse with no onerous maintenance schedule. They are also high geared and have solid fuel economy. I'm too tall and too creaky to enjoy riding in a C4, though I'd love to have a 96 LT4 if it would work for me.

I regret that hey are too pricey for me at this stage of life.

Id also like to have a first generation 4runner. I don't care whether it's a straight axle or later year. These are currently reasonable but rising in value.

I wish an 80s Land cruiser was possible, but prices on those have moved higher in recent years.

Anytime you find a deal, do what ever it takes to get it!!!!

This is my 76 K10 long-bed, that I couldn't pass on!

Jeep Wranglers, if you can get them for a steal! I walked into a 97 TJ, and if I cleaned it up, I could probably sell it for double what I paid!

My only disagreement - anything with a Hellcat badge is nearly unattainable out of the gate, either hard to find or overpriced when you find one. :(

lol there was nothing about being affordable.....if you could squirrel one away I bet it's be worth double in a few short years.

Drove the CLK63 two weekends ago...daaayum. 500hp, and has buckets of torque all over the tac. My brother in law took me for a ride and let me drive it around Chicago's freeways for a while. There was so much torque it felt like an electric car the way it seemed to be available instantly and everywhere.

I drove a C63 in Germany....given the choice between an E90 M3 and the C63....I'd have to take the C63. The interior on the M3 is much better but that AMG V-8 in that C63 is just amazing.
