I've got the harbor freight version of that exclusively for sharpening knives. It bogs down with a leather belt on it. I wish I had spent a little more money. However, it's still a breeze sharpening knives compared to any of the hand methods.

I would NOT recommend a belt wider than 1" for knife sharpening.

That one you linked gets the best reviews of any 1" belt sander I've seen on Amazon.

I have this one for my metal work, but I wouldn't sharpen knives with it. So far it's been great.
I’ve been looking at it for my woodworking. I think the 1” not being supported in the back would help me sand some gentle curves that the wider belt sanders wouldn’t.

Finally saw the bear this morning that has been roaming the neighborhood. Big sucker.He moved pretty fast when my car lights lit him up.Had to warn the wife before she took the dog out to be aware. He was just over the hill from my house.
