BE PREPARED

Stay safe and be prepared. @Patryn if you or @Prepperrob or someone would like to chime in on proper preparedness, it would be appreciated.

At very least have on hand the following:
  • Water - minimum of 1 gallon a day per person.
  • Batteries - replacement batteries for cellphones, radios, flashlights.
  • Canned goods - canned meats, vegetables, etc.
  • Blankets
  • Personal hygiene items: toiletries, toothpaste, toothbrushes, feminine products, etc.
  • First Aid Kit
  • Duct Tape
  • Lighters, matches, fire starters
Be safe, take care of yourself, take care of your family, take care and look out for your neighbors.

So what is good to have if you are heading towards the storm?

Serious question

Add a weather radio or some other means of getting news/updates to the list @dougiemac

In addition to a flashlight, I've found that an electric lantern is really nice for lighting areas- such as when cooking or trying to keep the family entertained and calm. Nothing is quite as comforting as light when there's none to be found elsewhere. I love the Streamlight Seige lantern. But it's an odd battery (for my house) so I have to keep D cells on hand for just that lantern.

And assuming that you are at your house, I like the list. An "on the road" list would maybe be a bit different.

Biggest thing left off the list ....MEDICATIONS. if you are on RX meds ....make sure to have a supply on hand.

I have a bedroom and a blow up mattress available in Dawsonville if anyone needs a place to stay .... just let me know.

Hotel AtlMedic looks like it has a vacancy now too. I have one couch open if it's needed. It will be tight quarters but most of us shower daily so it will be ok.

I thought I included in the post, we have a few bedrooms available for use too. I've invited @300AAC-Hoghunter or whatever his handle is these days but he said they're good to ride it out!

Awesome thread Dougie. I've got room near Disgusta for a couple folks. We will get some rain and wind but we'll be good and safe.

All depends on the day of the week if they're open.

Personally I like Mott's better

We have room in Locust Grove. My brother and his family evacuated from Pooler and are staying with his wife's in laws. My wife's parents in Brunswick got a place to stay with friends from their church. Heard that they closed the causeways to St. Simon's and Jeckyll as well. I saw that the storm surge was predicted to be the worst on the GA coast at 6 to 10 feet. Gonna be lots of flodoing!

I talked to Noah cause You will need an Ark @Cudruln !

Well where I am currently at had strong winds and rain. I am going to be moving back up to Savannah this morning. It looks like they caught the storm head on.
