Disclaimer
These are the basic rules for the site but we also reserve the right to establish new rules if the need becomes evident. If you join this site and post on this site, you agree to these rules. If there is any content that could create any issues, legal or otherwise, that content will be removed.

Main Rule of the Site
#1 Rule: Please keep everything friendly!
Be respectful. Don't be an ass to other members, it won't be tolerated. If the "Don't be a dick" rule was kept in the forefront of everyone's mind while using the site, we wouldn't need any additional rules. If you're here to stir shit up and be a douche, you'll be asked to leave. There's a difference in discussing something civilly and posting insulting memes, resorting to name calling and being a total douche bag.

Other General Rules of the Site

1. Keep everything in the general public area PG-13-rated or better. The R-rated material (both in speech and content) MUST be kept in Twin Peaks Lodge. It is a private area that can only be accessed by Premium and Lifetime Members. You also must be 18 years old and request access to enter. There are simple rules there, please abide by them or risk losing access to that area of the site.

Things that MUST stay in the Twin Peaks Lounge and NOT in the General Public area are:
  • All Sexual Content!
  • Strategically covered nudity
  • Sheer or see-through clothing
  • Lewd or provocative poses
  • Close-ups of breasts, buttocks, or crotches
*This is an AdSense Policy, please help me by keeping the lights on with ad revenue.

*To join the Twin Peaks Lodge, you must be a Premium Member. Click on Join User Groups on your Profile Page: http://southeasttraders.com/index.php?account/join-user-groups

2. Do not ever make any threats to anyone, whether in the public forum or in a PM. This includes suggesting that you meet up with someone and fight. You will be permanently banned from the site.

3. Please don't take a dump in someone's ad. If you don't like it, think the price is ridiculous, etc. MOVE ON. Show some self control, discipline, maturity and act like an adult that supports free market capitalism in our great nation of freedom. Flipping is not encouraged, however it is embraced. If you have never bought something and sold it for a profit, you're either the most generous person in the world or the worst business person in the world (or a combination of both).

4. Please keep discussion threads on track. Purposeful derailment of a thread topic is destructive to the discussion and to the content of this site and will not be tolerated. If you want to start another discussion, then create a new thread. Keeping topics on track means, don't turn everything into a religious thread or a sex talk thread or a thread about "whatever your favorite thing is to talk about". If you purposefully derail a thread, your post may be removed. Repeated behavior of this will result in a warning.

5. Joking around is fine, this place is to be light hearted and no one should feel unwelcome. But know when enough is enough. Trolling and bullying will not be tolerated. Remember the "don't be a dick" rule.

6. Please be very courteous to new members and realize that a lot of people, including me, never look at the rules when they first join a site. If someone has 1 post and joined yesterday and they post a listing without a price, please don’t jump them for it. We're one big community of outdoorsmen and women, archers, campers, hikers, naturalists, and members of the gun culture. We need to treat each other as family and friends. Speaking of, we are sincerely appreciative of all the welcome responses you posts in the “Introduce Yourself” thread for new members.

7. You are allowed one account for your lifetime (i.e. "No Multiple Accounts") with some exclusions. Dealers and Retailers can have both a professional "dealer" account and a private personal account. This will help them keeping their business transactions and the personal transactions separate. Again, please do not abuse this as both accounts could be placed on suspension or banned.

8. Please no bashing of admins, moderators or staff. If you have a problem, post in the Private Help section and express your issue respectfully. Moderators hold each other accountable and have no other agenda but to keep the site friendly, encourage community and enforce rules when necessary. Remember the "don't be a dick" rule.

9. Please reference any article, blog, news link, photo credit, etc. when posting it in the forums. You wouldn’t want someone stealing your hard work without giving you proper credit, so we should do likewise. This is for both integrity and legal sake. Always give credit where credit is due.

10. Language: While we do not censor language, the rule of thumb is, "just because you can, doesn't mean you always should", is to be applied. Just because you can use stronger adult language, doesn't mean you should always use it. Please do not abuse this freedom. If the moderators and staff believe you are misusing this freedom, your posts will be edited with appropriate reason given. As a favor to those using the site in a work environment, please do not use profanity or vulgarity in the thread title. The exception is in the Twin Peaks Lounge.

11. Please watch one of the greatest movies of all time, "Tombstone" as it will be referenced many times on this site in discussions.

By agreeing to become a member of this site you are attesting that you will follow the rules of the site and will not be offended by the plethora of mom jokes that will inevitably be hurled your way. It was a mom joke that really got the ball rolling for this site and, much like your mom, they are welcome here.

Warnings
We rarely issue warnings. However sometimes if you go to far with something or you're a dick, warnings are our way of trying to curb behavior that isn't in line with the community. It seems rather childish to have to discipline adults for their behavior, but there are times when it is necessary. We typically only give you one warning and if you continue the behavior you will be banned. Bans are reserved for those members that are habitual abusers, members practicing illegal activities or members that threaten other members. All bans will be approved by the admin.

Grievances
If you have a grievance or an issue that you'd like to address with the site, the site's moderators or staff, then please do so respectfully in the Private Help Area. This Private Help Area is designed and established to allow you to respectfully discuss an issue you may have or a problem you may have with something. This area is private and only the original poster and the moderators and staff can access your thread.

Private Messages and Privacy
Private messages or conversations are private, but there can be justified reasoning to view those private conversations such as settling a XenTrader dispute, etc. By using the private message system, you accept that admins may access your private messages if needed. (The ability to read other’s PMs is restricted solely to Administrators.) The staff at Southeast Traders does not make a practice of monitoring private messages. Your personal data will never be sold to a marketing company or a third party. Occasionally our partners will request us to offer you a special discount or service, we will forward that to you if it is appropriate and we believe it will provide great value to you.

Swap and Sell / Classifieds

Definitions and Best Practices:
Committed Deal:
A “Committed Deal” is a deal that has been agreed upon and confirmed in a Private Message / Conversation between two or more parties. The requirements numbered below defines what is considered as a committed deal here at Southeast Traders.

A “Committed Deal” must meet the following criteria below to be considered a “Committed Deal”.
1. A time and date must be agreed upon by both parties in a SET Private Message.
2. A location to meet must be agreed upon by both parties in s SET Private Message.
3. A price and what is being purchased must be agreed upon in a SET Private Message.
4. "Buyer", "Seller" or "Traders" are not required to purchase, sell or trade their respective items at the agreed upon meeting for whatever reason (item not exactly as described upon inspection, condition of item, etc.).
5. Remember the only acceptable proof that can be validated are SET Private Messages. Any communication outside of SET Private Messages may not be accepted on review or appeal of any feedback discrepancies.

Best Practices and Rules To Buy, Sell and Trade:
• Do not commit to buy/sell/trade an item if you are not serious about it and fully prepared to live up to your word.

• Fully disclose everything you can think of in your ad or your offer, including, an accurate description of the cosmetic and operating condition, accessories included, and actual representative pictures (not factory shots).

• Stipulate if your sale/purchase/trade offer is subject to in-person physical inspection, will require a bill of sale, drivers license or a carry permit.

• If you are making a trade offer it's helpful to send a link to your ad or representative pictures of your unlisted trade offer in a PM. communicate with the other party clearly and fully, then confirm final agreements via PM.

• If either party decides they want to change the 'committed deal' then they can't leave the other party negative feedback...but...they may be subject to a negative.

• You may post as many items as you would like in the trading post. You may also put as many items in your post as you would like. I would recommend separate listings for each item, but it is entirely up to you. You are allowed to relist your items every 72 Hours.

• If you think you have sold your item and it falls through, you must reinstate your old ad until the original 72 hours have passed. I understand the frustration but please understand we have no way to tell if a deal fell through or if you just wanted to relist your item early.

• AR Lowers can be listed in either Handguns or Rifles, but not both. Complete AR uppers can be listed in handguns or rifles, whichever it is. Incomplete uppers and all parts for lowers go in the Ammo, Accessories, Parts, Etc. section.

• All items listed must be purchasable without going to another site. For example: Don't list a item with a link to eBay, gunbroker, armslist, etc. (Only exception is for Businesses/Dealers in the appropriate section)

• All items for sale must actually be available and not "on order" from somewhere. (excluding dealers/stores)

• Reverse Auctions are allowed, but the reduction in price must be in increments of at least $5 for items under $500 and $10 for items over $500.

• No misleading ad titles, such as "Free Gun” and then the ad says "must buy the mags for $500." Also included in this rule are titles like “Colt 1911” when the actual item is a “Rock Island 1911”.

• Please refrain from excessively bumping your ad when there is no new information to add and nothing has changed. (More than twice a day with no new info is considered "excessive")

• Do not make negative comments in other people’s threads. Repeat offenders will be temporarily banned and then permanently banned. It gets really old reminding the same users over and over to keep their comments to themselves. Everyone is allowed to ask whatever price they want for their items and it is their problem if no one wants it for that price. Also, do not hijack people's listings. If the post starter is actively participating in the conversation in their own listing that is fine. If you have activity that is unwanted in your listing please contact a moderator to clean it up for you. (Posting a factual problem with the ad is fine and not considered a negative comment, an example is someone listing a HiPoint for sale but they have a picture of a Glock).

• No Raffles! Apparently there are some legal issues that surround a raffle unless they are conducted explicitly for and by a 503c charity.

• If you list an item for a friend you take full responsibility for the deal as far as feedback is concerned, if it goes south then you get hit with the negative. We suggest not selling for friends and just help them create an account of their own.

• Listings for alcohol and pornography are not allowed.

• All items listed need to have some sort of value reference point. This can be a ballpark value, possible trade interest, etc. Just something to serve as a starting point for everyone interested in your item. This is to benefit you from receiving a bazillion private messages and wasting other member's time if it's not within their valuation. So please place a value on your listings.

• If your item is listed as "For Sale Only" you must have a price listed.

• If there is suspicion that your item may be stolen or counterfeit, it will be taken down and you will be asked to provide proof that you legally acquired the item or of it’s legitimacy. If you can not provide proof then you will not be allowed to list that item again.

• If you have a handgun and want to trade for a rifle, the listing should be in the handgun section. If someone is shopping for a rifle they do not want to see a bunch of handguns in there, it defeats the purpose of having separate areas for types of guns.

• It is the buyer’s and seller’s responsibility to be familiar with all local, state, and federal laws when considering buying or selling items. It is the parties involved in the transaction’s responsibility to make sure all laws are followed and all items are as represented before they take part in a transaction with someone else. Southeast Traders and it's affiliates can accept no responsibility for mis-represented items or items not being delivered after payment.

• You use this site at your own risk so please be careful. Remember, buyer beware always. Be smart and be vigilant.

• When your item has been sold or traded please edit the title or the first post in your listing to say sold or traded and close the thread.

• If you have a problem or need some rules clarified please fee free to post in the Help forum.

XenTrader Feedback
XenTrader Feedback can only be given if one or more parties break the “Committed Deal” per the definitions of the site. Any XenTrader disputes will be handled by myself or the Moderators and if we are unable to reach an agreement, it will be settled in the public arena, where a poll will be created and all details sanitized. Members will have 48 hours to vote on the matter.

What is XenTrader Feedback?
  • Positive means you were pleased with the overall transaction.
  • Negative means that someone backed out of a “committed deal” or an item was misrepresented in some way. (Must be provable according to the rules above.)
  • Neutral is used for ratings that are currently under investigation or for rare circumstances where neither a Positive or a Negative seems to fit.
If you have a question or a problem with a negative rating you can post a thread in the Private Help Forum which is only visible to you and the moderators. If someone commits to buy or sell an item make sure you hold on to any private messages until the deal is done and everyone considers it final. If the agreed terms are not in PM's then there is nothing we can use to verify anyone's story.

"Trusted Trader" badge is only a reflection of a member's feedback rating given by other members. As long as a member maintains a 99% positive itrader feedback, that member will maintain a "Trusted Trader" badge. This does not imply that this site (SoutheastTraders) vouches for or has vetted this member. Always use caution and due diligence when trading. SoutheastTraders is not responsible for any incidents that result from a private sale/trade.

Remember that rules can't cover every situation and disputes can happen.

Elements of the Site

Avatars:

Everyone is allowed to post pictures for their avatars. I just ask that you avoid anything too racy, gross, inflammatory, or offensive. PG-13 people.

Signatures:
Everyone is allowed to have a signature, but it can't be anything offensive. Just try and keep it clean please.

Faith & Spiritual Discussions (The Cathedral):
We have an area for those members who are of the faith and like to discuss spiritual matters. This area resides in The Cathedral.

Raw and Racy Subjects (Twin Peaks Lodge):
We have a private area on the site for those who like to walk a little more on the wild side. This area contains jokes, threads, discussions, photos, etc. of adult subject matter. This area is a “Enter at Your Own Risk”! The only requirement that must be met to participate is to be 18 years or older, a paid site Supporter and request permission to access Twin Peaks Lodge. Although it’s a little hotter in there than the rest of the forum, I do ask that you please keep it “R” and NC-17” rated. Please no hardcore sex or graphic violence. That means, keep photos above the waste (bare ass is fine, but no genitalia - i.e. roast beef, wieners or starfishes, no sexual body fluids, etc.) and no bloody, gross, graphic videos. If you abuse this privilege, you could lose your access to Twin Peaks Lodge and potentially the site itself. DO NOT POST ANYTHING ILLEGAL! If it is even questionable, it will be removed and depending on the content, you may find yourself in some hot water, so please keep it cool.

To gain access to the Twin Peaks Lodge, go to your profile page and click "Join User Groups".

Moderators

Moderators are here to keep an eye on the place when I can’t. They are regular users who happen to spend a lot of time on here. If I am not online please look for a name in red at the bottom of the front page and ask them for assistance in any matter.

Moderators have the right to interpret the spirit of the site rules and dispense warnings when they feel appropriate.

Please understand that moderators do not have to be neutral in conversations, they have opinions just like you and me. They do not get paid and volunteer their time to help with the site, so there is no reason they should be muzzled on topics they would like to discuss.

These are the duties of the moderators:
  • The #1 most important role of a moderator, is to build a sense of community.
  • They keep threads and posts in the right places.
  • They monitor threads and listings for violations of the rules listed here.
  • They edit or delete posts when needed, i.e. personal attacks, name calling, etc.
  • They ban spammers.
  • They issue temporary bans for constant rule breakers or general troublemakers.
I never want to see anyone get a permanent ban. Permanent bans still have to go through me, but are usually based on the opinions and recommendations of the mods. As long as you keep it friendly and play nice with others I doubt you will ever have an issue with any of the mods or myself.

Please have respect for the mods, they are just doing what I ask them to do. If you have an issue with a mod just send me a private message/conversation. Don't go and tell them to "f off," that's just uncalled for.

Donations, Payments and Purchases
Developing, marketing, operating, nurturing and maintaining a site of this quality incurs a great deal of cost and expense. To offset that cost and expense, we offer a number of ways that members can support the site.

Donations
Donations can be made via paypal to [email protected] or by becoming a site supporter or a lifetime supporter. Becoming a supporter is easy to do via "Account Upgrades" under your username dropdown. Being a supporter allows you to display your pride in your community with a supporter badge. Supporter status can take up to 36 hours to process. Donations are non-refundable, as we immediately allocate those funds to pay for the monthly costs incurred to fund the site.

Payments
Payments for advertising are paid in advance of advertising being displayed and are typically non-refundable.

Purchases
Purchases for merchandise is also non-refundable. Exceptions maybe made on a per case basis.
