Poverty Guns...

Do you have any good "Poverty Guns" that you would recommend? I picked up a Canik TP9V2 a few days ago and can't say enough about it. I was looking for something to lock up in my workshop. I wanted a full-sized handgun in 9mm with at least 15rd capacity. I came across the TP9V2 used at a pawn shop. It was obviously unfired but someone had color-filled the slide and painted the grip "panels" white. I took it home, scrubbed all of that shit off of it with Goof Off and took it out back to the range.

It felt good in my hand, had a really cool striker-fired DA/SA trigger setup just like my old P99 from back in the day and had am 18rd capacity. I usually prefer hammer=fired but this was the best of both worlds. I put 3 mags through it this afternoon and was extremely happy with the ergonomics of the gun and my ability to pop the steel plates easily. I have a target ball that I toss out in the woods and can make that thing dance around easily with this gun. It was 100% reliable. It is a bit top-heavy but I am used to my HK's so it felt right at home. I still have a little white paint to get off of it but all-in-all it's a keeper and will serve it's purpose.

I say $275 well-spent.

Here's both of my poverty guns. I love both of them and they were both cheap as hell. $375 for the CZ and $225 for the Ruger...

I was going to buy a P07 the day I bought the TP9 but the deal just wasn't there/ I had it boiled down to a P07 for $375, a 2022 for $300 and the Canik for $275. I decided to give the Canik a try since Ive never owned one. I may go back and try to get the 2022 for under $300.

2022 is a good gun of you like the 229/226 series of guns. I had a 2022 several years back and it was a really decent gun for the money. The only reason I sold it was because I found a P229 police trade-in for right around ~$300 IIRC.

I saw a Witness P today for a really good price. It felt good in my hand but I seriously would not trust myself to get a good grip on that ridiculously small slide with any amount of adrenaline flowing.

The SD9ve is a pretty awesome little poverty gun. The trigger sucks but they always work.

Apex makes a trigger for them now. Not sure how much they cost but I've seen them on their IG page. It would be a good upgrade if it's not too expensive.

I have not. Once my contract with Century Arms and Canik USA was over, I didn't stay interested with the line as much.
