So I started a long range gun build a year ago and I haven't finished it yet, but I really want to.

So far I have:
  • Remington 700 (.308) SPS Tactical AAC short action
  • Overmolded Hogue stock
  • Harris Engineering Hinged Bipod
  • Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x50 Optic
What I need:
  • Mount
  • Rings
Any advice for a quality set of rings and a mount?
Anything else I need for this gun?

A new stock. From the little research I’ve done the houge stock is not the best option.

Quality 20-30MOA (max) scope rail. Nightforce, Badger, etc.

Mounts. Stay with quality and spend some money. Personally, I like rings, but mounts have their pros as well. If you go with a mount, get something that you torque on, not a QD lever as they can come loose. Nightforce, Seekins, zrodelta, Spuhr (if you want to be big money), even Vortex Precision matched and Badger make good rings. Since you already have a NF scope, I'd stick with NF rings so that the panties match the bra.

And you need a good trigger. Huber Concepts makes my favorite. Trigger Tech, Timney Calvin Elite and Jewels are all very popular as well.

In time, I'd replace the stock. The Hogue is flimsy.

If you’re ever around Douglasville @dougiemac Gables Sporting goods has started carrying KRG chassis’s in store. Last I was in there they had probably 6 or 7 on the shelf. I can swing by tomorrow to check their inventory if you’d like.

Cool...don't go out of your way, but if you're in there I'd appreciate a stock / price check.

The Bravo chassis is nice and only $350 online...the Whiskey 3 looks amazing, but $900? Wheh... I might as well get a GA Precision rifle and ditch my 700.

Muzzle brake would be nice as well. If no can, I like the APA little bastard. GA made and work very well.

Bro, I’m always looking for reason to go into the gun store. The ones I noticed were the Whiskey Chassis. But there’s a good possibility they will have others by now.

The KRG X-ray would be another good quasi budget option. They probably carry those as well. Essentially a polymer version on the Whiskey 3

I looked at an X-ray as an option for the 455 before I bought the VPT with the Manners. Also a quality option @dougiemac . Manners makes a SWEET stock.

While we’re on the topic, what bipod is everyone running. I’m about to take the leap for the Harris S-BRM (notched legs/swivel) I know @cmshoot mentioned it in particular. The cheap Blackhawk! wasn’t doing my 455 justice. @ReservoirDawg10 @War Paint

Harris SBRM notched legs with Hawk Hill feet and Atlas PSR for me. I'd look at Accutac as well if looking at Atlas money

The Harris is still to gold standard for bipods. The Atlas, Accutac, etc are all great, but the Harris is probably still the best all around bipod.
