The "NM" prefix guns have a tighter slide to frame fit and generally have a much better fitment all around. It's rumored that the "NM" prefix guns are completely assembled in the US from slide and frame blanks instead of Brazil but Springfield has never confirmed this. If you put an "NM" prefix gun next to an "N" prefix gun you'll immediately see a huge difference in the fitment of the two.

Will you actually get around to ever shooting this one?

I am sure I will. I have several guns I picked up lately that I still need to shoot. Somehow the Mac always ends up going with me instead!

I may not know what I'm talking about when it comes to a lot of stuff, but when it comes to 1911's I know a pretty good bit after having owned at least 3 or 4 dozen over the years. Had Rock Islands all the way up to a custom Guncrafter Industries and have been frequenting several different 1911 forums for waaaaay longer than GON, ODT, Glock Talk, SET, etc. I'm glad you like it brother. Now go get a set of Talon rubber grips for the front strap on that thing. Trust me you will love it. It is the second best thing to having the front strap checkered.

I had a hogue wrap around grip on my previous 1911. I will have to check out the Talon grip.

If you don't mind the extra girth it adds or the finger grooves the Hogue grips are fine if that's your thing. The Talon grips are just black rubber (or sandpaper) textured tape that you put on there. I prefer the Talon because it helps you keep that slim grip and doesn't add finger grooves, which I don't like. That is just personal preference though.

I will check them out for sure. This will most likely be range gun/hd gun. Right now it will just sit in the safe.

So you've unholstered and reholstered it over 5 times a day every day, without fail, for 10 years?
