Ive only had two things work well. To catch them in one spot and kill them, the traps you put over a bucket of water can kill a bunch and dont need resetting. Theres a walking plank style and a roller. Both work pretty well.
to eradicate, get those green bait/poison blocks and smash them up into a powder and mix it with water. This is the salted earth plan. Not good for indoors as they will hole up and die somewhere. And make sure no kids/pets can get to it.
Y'all thinking so one dimensionally...bacon, wrapped around a chunk of old cheddar, dipped in peanut butter (not @Peanut Butter ) is fucking foolproof. Mice, squirrels, rats, muskrats, and even one unlucky crow have fallen for this combo
Cats leave rats alone. Set the rolling trap over a barrel. No water! As the rats fall in and multiply, eventually they eat each other. When you get down to 1 rat, you release him. Now he has a taste for his homies and will hunt them down with great determination for you! Problem solved without a scaredy-cat.
I have one of the commercial bait boxes that restaurants use. Keep it under my RV during storage to stop mice from nesting inside at deer camp and my house. Never had any since did that.you can buy the bait that is 24 hour kill or 3 day kill
