We are in the midst of shifting from a Republic to a Democracy. Individual rights will give way to the rights of larger groups, whether those are citizens groups, lobby groups, political groups with the most power, etc...as individual freedoms and rights erode. Our financial stability is also at risk. I know I've been the SETs "perma-bear", but I don't see how we get out of 2021 without major market corrections and a LONGTIME bearish economy with major losses followed by decades of no growth.

I think it's difficult to recognize major change when you're in the middle of it. The human brain likes to smooth things out and normalize erratic patterns for the sake of consistency and continuity, but things are...off.

If you think about current events and the economy in relation to the boiling frog theory...it sure does seem like the water is nearly unbearable.

Thoughts?

Self awareness and adaptation within the means regardless of circumstances.
Many things we cannot change even with all out revolution since the masses have been almost thoroughly brainwashed (mostly short term planning) into accepting anything govt proposes

I’m as ready as I can be. Getting healthy to stay out of the impending socialized healthcare system. Building bonds with like minded individuals. Working on self sustaining food.

Where will the money go during these times?

Usually when the stock market goes down bonds/precious metals go up.

I'm just wondering where the 401K monies should go before they disappear or the Dems take them through taxes.

I don't understand why the mainstream media is pushing such a leftist agenda. I think it's going to push the USA into a civil war. And it's going to be extremely ugly when the right pushes back. Of course mainstream conservatives will be villainized for defending their rights.

This.

Perzactly.

One of my biggest concerns is that media is no longer balanced. Maybe it never was and I'm just now seeing it for what it is but back in the day everyone was subject to investigation by the press to air dirty laundry.

But now it seems the media is protecting one party and persecuting the other.

How did it get this way? Aren't there honest journalists any more?

Freedom of the press is great as long as there isn't any bias. Once the press is biased what are we supposed to do?

Angry people are easily manipulated, just like scared people. Between ginned up racial tension and the Wu-Flu, they're working two fronts.

The press's engine runs on money, and the thing that gets them eyeballs and $$$ are the same things that get the left the leverage they need to force legislation and get more power.

In part... it's about the money. But the bigger question is why the press is suppressing the truth? And the answer is that persons who are in power want to turn the USA into a socialist country, and the only way to do that is to push a great political divide. If a civil war breaks out, the 600,000 we lost in the 1st civil war, will seem like a drop in the bucket, compared to losses that the American people will have to endure to retain their freedom, IF they manage to keep it.

I get the money part and I see how Fox is slanted right to take advantage of that market but the MSM...it's gotta be coming from somewhere.

The truth isn't selling right now, rhetoric is. The country isn't as divided as politicians and the media would like it to be.

Racial tension and fear over Covid. That's what keeps rating high and the $$$ hose turned up to 11. Coincidentally, it's also what makes shoving shit legislation through much easier. If we're in the middle of a "gun violence epidemic", "Climate Emergency", and "Systemic Racism" you'd be a villain to oppose any effort to stem any of them....and you'd shame anyone that dared not follow the party line.

Just look at the rhetoric that's being used. They are pushing that the only way to be happy is obtaining the unobtainable. "Not one more". We all know that it's statistically impossible to eliminate crime, but the expectation that the only tenable outcome is the elimination of all crime or we riot/take rights away, guarantees fuel for the fire forever, or until their political ambitions have been met or shift to another cause.

Same with Covid. I'm starting to hear a few politicians talking about restrictions can't be lifted until the disease is "eradicated"---an impossible to obtain situation. Even if hyperinflation doesn't occur, the power grab will not end without violence. I may not see it, just cause I'm so old, but it's coming, I'm convinced.
