Got the barrel in the mail today !!
Cool. Bet you can't wait to put together. Not sure if you got mags yet but I have one you can have when you are ready to shoot.

Ok so I contacted Faxon and asked them about the inside bore diameter. It was confirmed that it’s .308 and some bulk ammo is .311 I’ve read so I’m sure I’ll loose some velocity but what about the extra pressure. Should I torque the mil spec barrel nut to 60 ft/lb instead of 40 ft/lb or no worries.

I am sure there is a lot of variances in ammo out there. I would not exceed build specs. It might cause other unforeseen issues. I have not had any issues with mine.

I've been hunting deer with x39 AR for years. Switched over to 308 AR for last couple of years and am switching back to the 7.62x39. Most of my shots are under 100 yards so that makes it easier and weapon is a lot lighter. I've never lost a deer hit with my 7.62x39 and Wolf HP steel case ammo (stuff is really destructive at my ranges). Only drawback to x39 is that 175 yards is about the ethical range for deer for a clean kill. If using HP's, you can't shoot thru anything as they will open up and deflect a lot of the time. Mags can be a PITA, I just don't load my 20 rounders past 15. I load the Colt 5 round mags full. Again, shot placement wins over caliber every time, so shoot what you are good with.

For those of you that hunt suppressed, 7.62x39 is pleasant with my Harvester. Sounds about like a 45acp in my TiRant45 to my ears.

Yeah the standard is 40 - 80 ft/lb not to exceed 80 but I was thinking about 60 ft/lb on this one just because of extra pressure shooting bulk steel

Yeah I did get it put together. I haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet.

We could prolly get some time Sun or Mon if you want to get out and shoot some.

If you go, let me know and I'll bring mine out for a little final tuning on the sighting in. I doubled the value when I changed out the scope to a Vortex HS from the Weaver.

That would be a great outing. I’d like to finally meet u @Allsmiles

Working for the man from 1730 to 0530. Matter of fact, I'm working the next 4 days on this schedule.

Depending on when and where I might be able to make an appearance. Work is going to be dead, and I'm basically there to answer the phone and get a little accomplished with 1 actual working guy.

Getting a 7.62x39mm AR to run correctly requires more work than 6.8SPC does.

Most 6.8SPC ammo should be more accurate than most 7.62x39mm ammo.

7.62 ammo is cheaper than 6.8 ammo.

For running suppressed and the like, easier to find good ammo in 6.8.

What are y’all doing Monday ? You think we could get together on private land and shoot outside ? @Mac11FA @Allsmiles any plans / ideas
Sorry mayne. Had to make a run to Brunswick for Sheryl's parents. They are okay for the most part. Had to bring her mom a new phone and help them around the house.
