I’m thinking about a new upper build. Thinking on the 6.8 SPC or the 762x39. It’s primarily going to be a hunting rifle. Occasional plinking and running suppressed. What are your pros and cons with the 2 and help me decide which one to build. I know that both require a matching bolt to barrel and they both have proprietary mags. I think the ballistics are close under 300yds and they both stay super sonic to 500 yds. The 6.8 is a hard hitting thumper but ammo is more limited and expensive. The 762x39 ammo is cheap and readily available anywhere but may have to search for good soft point hunting ammo. The 762 May be a better fit for shtf scenario. I hear the 6.8 is far more accurate especially at distance but I’m generally 100-300yds anyways. So help me out here SET what would you do ??

I use the Hornady SST for hunting with my x39. I like them.

I like those and the Black Label in 6.5G for hunting too. Hornady makes a great red tip for hunting. Where we hunt in the National Forrest it’s really a 100yd shot they don’t let 4 wheelers in there so you gotta drag that bad boy or flat head outta there. I think I’m getting a cart this year.

Same thing where I hunt on Fort Gordon. I tell myself every year I'm going to get cart. I still dont have one. I curse myself every time I shoot one.

The big one I shot 3 years ago was a 500 yard drag. Took me an hour and I think I had 4 or 5 heart attacks.

Holy crap I think I’d had to just build a shelter and stay till I cooked all the meat then go home.
I usually see them fair priced at Sportsman’s Guide I think.

Only way I'd ever have a x39 AR is if I got a CMMG Mutant or PSA KS-47. Those x39 AR mags just look weird as hell in a regular AR lower, and the mags aren't reliable.
