Apparently it's a pretty rare piece with the half octagon barrel and the "button" magazine tube and the .38-55 chambering. I was told by an appraiser that it must have been a special order gun because Winchester never made a factory gun in that particular configuration.

@Frogman after reading a bit of on these cans, M1 wasn't the gun designation. M1 was the model for the can. So it wasn't CAL .30M1 (carbine), it was CAL .30 and it was an M1 designation for the ammo box. I need an old cloth ammo belt and some 7.62 for a 1919.

Yeah, I would think so. 7.62x51 didn't really become the main caliber for the 1919 til later. Correct?

Picked this up at the gunshow on Sunday 4-22-2018.
Got it for 400.00 OTD and they say there is not any deals at gunshows.
Spreewerke P38 CYQ march 1944 all parts matching and no import marks anywhere.
